5 Questions in 5 Minutes: Officer Eric Vickstrom

Officer Eric Vickstrom
We sat down with our Foley Police Department to ask 5 questions in 5 minutes. Here’s what Officer Vickstrom, Foley’s School Resource Officer (SRO), had to say.
1. What motivated you to become a police officer?
“It was always an interest of mine and, having prior military experience, I wanted to be able continue to utilize the experience and training I received from the military in hope it would aid me in being a better police officer.”
2. What is your favorite thing about being a police officer in Foley?
“I enjoy the small town feel and enjoy having the ability to interact with the community on a more positive side, like events such as PALS League and Fun with Police, instead of going from call to call and interacting with the community that way.”
3. What is one thing you wish people knew about being a police officer in a small town?
“Just because we are not always going lights and sirens or taking constant calls, doesn’t mean we are not working. We use that down time to patrol the city and interact with the community to help continue to build the relationship between our department and the citizens that live here.”
4. What do you like to do in your spare time?
“Spending time with my family, hunting, watching movies and TV shows, and playing video games.”
5. High fives or fist bumps?
“Fist bumps all day unless I’m at school. Kids love high fives.”
