5 Questions in 5 Minutes: Chief Katie McMillin
We sat down with our Foley Police Department to ask 5 questions in 5 minutes. Here’s what Chief Katie McMillin had to say.
1. What motivated you to become a police officer?
“I wanted to be a Police Officer since I was in the 9th grade. The thought of being there and helping people in their time of need is what attracted me to the field. Educating people on how they can be safe is also a highlight of being a Police Officer. I really want to make a difference in the City of Foley.”
2. What is your favorite thing about being a police officer in Foley?
“Getting to know people in a small town and build relationships with them. Being able to reach out to people of all ages and try and make a difference. I really enjoy being out in the community talking to different classes at health expos or other different events.”
3. What is one thing you wish people knew about being a police officer in a small town?
“Just because Foley is a small town does not mean no crime happens here and it is important that everyone takes precautions in keeping all their belongings secure and safe. We keep busy for being a small town.”
4. What do you like to do in your spare time?
“During my spare time, you can find me fishing, camping, working out at the gym, gardening, quilting, baking/cooking, and spending time with my family.”
5. High fives or fist bumps?
“High Fives.”
