5 Questions in 5 Minutes: Officer Jason Norten

Officer Jason Norten

We sat down with our Foley Police Department to ask 5 questions in 5 minutes. Here’s what Officer Jason Norten had to say.

1. What motivated you to become a police officer?

“Since I was young, I wanted to be a police officer. I’ve had family in law enforcement which sparked my interest. I have always had a passion for helping people in need and serve the community. Law enforcement allows me to achieve my passion.”

2. What is your favorite thing about being a police officer in Foley?

“My favorite thing about working in Foley is the support between all the officers. If you need anything, someone is there for you. Also the ability to have a great working relationship with the community and being able to have a high level of support that larger agencies may not have.”

3. What is one thing you wish people knew about being a police officer in a small town?

“Being a police officer in a small town allows you to be closer to the community you serve, and just because it’s a small town doesn’t mean no crime occurs. Most of the time our department only has one police officer on at a time, so we play many roles every shift.”

4. What do you like to do in your spare time?

“In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and kids. I try to find new places to go hiking, hunting and spending time outdoors. I enjoy traveling as well.”

5. High fives or fist bumps?

“Fist bumps definitely, but I will take either.”
